The CAMEL Tri-Star modular secondary containment system’s walls have a unique tri-linear design. A steel plate is welded at a 45° angle to the floor and wall, making the side walls into triangular tubes. For maximum structural support, steel gussets are welded underneath the steel plate along the entire wall length. This design prevents the side walls from being damaged if a driver accidentally drives over them during either system entry or exit. The entire modular secondary system is laminated using tough corrosion resistant fiberglass and resin materials for maximum protection. Fiberglass offers great physical strength, excellent corrosion resistance and flexibility. The ability of our CAMEL Tri-Star systems to absorb high levels of static and dynamic loading provides positive assurance of spill protection.

CAMEL Tri-Star systems are manufactured in 20' long x 7'3" wide sections. Outside wall height is 8" in all cases. To achieve the desired system length, sections are slip fit end-to-end. Thus, any system length can be created in increments and combinations of 20', 40' 60' and 80'. Therefore, you can create a modular or military secondary containment system that specifically meets your needs.

The overall modular secondary containment system width of 14'6" is achieved by positioning two mirror image system halves side-by-side. After the system halves are sited, installation consists of:

  • bolting the two halves together;
  • sealing the sectional jointures; and
  • siting the steel ramp(s).

Each double wide 20' long section weighs approximately 5,000 pounds. Ramps weigh approximately 1,200 pounds each.

Tri-Star ramps are heavy-duty, corrosion resistant and simple to use. These modular and military secondary containment systems are created using the honey-comb concept; Tri-Star ramps may be installed simply by placing them over the end walls after bolting the modular pan components together.

Limited site preparation, no excavation, fast, clean installation, immediate use, non-porous design, superior chemical resistance and portability are only some of the many advantages of the CAMEL Tri-Star modular secondary containment system. SUMMARY: Non-porous, re-locatable, vehicle spill containment system that, using fiberglass composite materials, maximizes corrosion protection and strength.

Each Tri-Star System is manufactured from heavy-duty fiberglass laminations completely encapsulating a ¼” thick steel core. The steel core makes Tri-Star (and Containment Pad) the most rugged and durable vehicular spill containment systems available today. The walls are 9” high and sections are 7’ long by 13’ wide. 7’ sections may be slip fit end-to-end to create the needed length and capacity.

The TRI-STAR’s side walls are a unique tri-linear design. This design prevents the side walls from being damaged if a driver accidentally drives over them during system entry or exit.

Rugged, steel ramps are used to enter and exit the system. Ramps are available in lengths of 10’ (5’ up/5’ down) and 16’ (8’ up/8’ down) and 11’ wide.

Installation is fast and easy:
• Each section is positioned from end to end and fastened together with heavy duty nuts and bolts.
• Steel ramps (one ramp for a drive-in/back out; two ramps for drive through) are installed with the inner halves integrated into the ends of the system. The outside of the ramps are bolted to the end walls.
• The system is secured to the substrate with steel hold downs. Guide posts are included and the steel filter box is external to the system.

Note that the Tri-Star System is surface-mounted, requiring no excavation and minimal site preparation.

Sectional joints are sealed with gasket or caulk sealant as is appropriate. In addition, each Tri-Star System includes a drain port in each corner. For added protection, an optional canopy can be custom fit to the Tri-Star. The canopy is approximately 15’ in height. Each canopy is secured to the system, not the ground. In additional to the canopy we also offer an optional external filter box with peat filter may be purchased to allow rainwater to flow out of the system while capturing liquid hydrocarbons.

Because the Tri-Star System is heavy-duty with a long life, sets up quickly, requires no excavation and is re-locatable, it is a fast cost-effective way to meet requirements for vehicular spill containment.

PURPOSE: The TRI-STAR System is a super duty, rigid, modular system designed to contain incidental spills of liquids that occur during truck transfer operations or when vehicles are used as storage tanks.

SCOPE: This product specification covers materials, construction and workmanship, physical properties, chemical resistance and methods of testing.

MATERIAL: The TRI-STAR is a fiberglass-encapsulated steel structure. Durable fiberglass laminations are bonded to a nominal 1/4” thick steel plate. Fiberglass offers great physical strength, excellent corrosion resistance and flexibility. Fiberglass mat and industrial grade isophthalic or vinyl ester resin as manufactured by Ashland Chemical or equivalent are used. A gel-coat surface resin of equal chemical resistance, with the additive antimony trioxide for flame retardance and U.V. protection is included. The flame spread rating is Class II. Tested by ASTM E-84.

STRUCTURE: The TRI-STAR’s side walls are a unique tri-linear design. Steel plate is welded 45 to the floor and wall, making the walls into triangular tubes. For maximum structural support, steel gussets are welded underneath the steel plate along the entire wall length. This design prevents the side walls from being damaged if a driver accidentally drives over them during system entry or exit. The ability of TRI-STAR systems to absorb high levels of static and dynamic loading provides positive assurance of spill containment. In addition, fiberglass provides the utmost in non-porous, corrosion protection against attack by a wide variety of industrial chemicals and liquid hydrocarbons.

Fiberglass reinforced construction is formed by combining resin with controlled amounts of fiberglass mat and woven roving. Polystar ensures that a corrosion barrier of not less that 30 mils as specified by industry standard PS 15-69 is provided to ensure consistency of product quality.
