Secondary Containment Systems
POLY DIKE™
POLY DIKE wall containment systems are used in place of concrete as secondary containment around storage tanks. POLY DIKE walls vary in height from 18" to 36" in 6" increments. Usually, a system is custom designed for each application, but sections and corners may be purchased for stock like the POLY CURB. POLY DIKE may be used as a stand-alone wall system, in conjunction with a fiberglass floor lamination, or with a fabric liner. POLY DIKE applications are similar to POLY CURB applications, but where greater capacities or barrier heights are required.

Poly Dike System used with liner
Our POLY DIKE wall containment is truncated triangular structures manufactured of various thicknesses of fiberglass based on wall height. POLY DIKE'S unique design allows both sides of the wall to share equally in load bearing.
POLY DIKE is flexible. The modular design coupled with wall heights varying from 12" to 30" allows flexible use of floor space to meet capacity requirements. Note that when determining system size the base of the POLY DIKE wall varies in width from approximately 12" to 24" based on wall height. POLY DIKE systems may be used in a number of ways. The three most common ways a POLY DIKE system is used are: (1) Bolted and sealed to a concrete pad, (2) Bolted and sealed to a concrete pad with fiberglass floor lamination, or (3) Bolted together and used with a flexible liner.
(1) Sealed to a concrete pad
POLY DIKE secondary containment walls may be sealed to a concrete pad by one of two methods:
(2) In conjunction with a fiberglass laminate bonded to a concrete pad
This system is chemically resistant and monolithic. It also is completely non-porous, as a fiberglass lamination is bonded to the concrete floor and to the base of the POLY DIKE walls. Also note that this system is particularly appropriate for areas which include plumbing, equipment, or tank supports, as the fiberglass lamination may be bonded over or around these obstructions if required. Polystar technicians always install this system.
(3) In conjunction with a fabric liner
A one-piece liner may be used to cover the floor. The liner is large enough to go up and over the POLY-DIKE wall containment, so that it can be secured to the wall tops with fiberglass "clips".
Securing the clips to the wall tops with self-tapping screws holds the liner in place. For aesthetics, the liner may be trimmed along the outside edge behind the "clip".
Limited site preparation, no excavation, fast, clean installation, immediate use, non-porous design, superior chemical resistance and portability are only some of the many POLY DIKE wall containment and secondary containment advantages.

SUMMARY: Modular, fiberglass wall system that maximizes corrosion protection and physical strength, while being light weight and easy to install.
Poly Dike walls are truncated triangular structures manufactured from either 3/16” (5mm) or ¼” (6mm) thick fiberglass based on wall height. Poly dike’s unique design allows both sides of the wall to share equally in load bearing.
Poly Dike’s modular design, coupled with wall heights that vary from 12” (30.5cm) to 36” (91.4cm), allow flexible use of surface area to meet area and capacity requirements. Note, when determining the system size, the width of the Poly Dike walls should be taken into account. The Poly Dike wall varies in width from 14” (35.6cm) to 24” (61cm) based on wall height. Poly Dike systems may be may be installed in several ways to cover a wide variety of applications. The three most common methods of installation are:
• Sealed to a concrete pad
The customer or his selected contractor can seal the walls to a concrete pad along the base flange with gasket, caulk or fiberglass materials.
• In conjunction with a floor coating
The customer or his selected contractor can seal the floor and the Poly Dike wall bases with a floor coating.
• In conjunction with a fabric liner
A one-piece fabric liner may be used to cover the floor and Poly Dike walls. The liner must be large enough to go over the Poly Dike walls, so that it can be secured to the wall top with fiberglass wall clips. Securing the wall clips with self-tapping screws holds the liner in place. For aesthetics, the liner may be trimmed along the outside edge behind the wall clip.
To secure the system to the substrate, pre-drill holes every foot along both horizontal mounting flanges for insertion of fasteners (concrete fasteners for a concrete substrate, long spikes for other substrates).
KEY POLY DIKE BENEFITS:
• NO FOOTERS NEEDED
• FAST, CLEAN INSTALLATION
• SUPERIOR CORROSION RESISTANCE – EVEN TO HIGH ACID CONCENTRATIONS
• FLEXIBLE USE IN COLD, HOT, OR MOIST ENVIRONMENTS
• NO GAPPING OR CRACKING
• EASY TO ADD TO OR RELOCATE
• CUSTOM SYSTEM DESIGN
PURPOSE: POLY DIKE is designed to be used as secondary containment for liquid and solid products that are considered to be harmful to the environment if leaked from their primary containment device. Applications include chemical storage tanks, hazardous material work areas, process waste treatment sites, rainwater runoff diking or similar applications.
SCOPE: This product specification covers materials, construction and workmanship, physical properties, chemical resistance and methods of testing.
MATERIAL: Premium fiberglass mat and industrial grade isophthalic or vinyl ester resin as manufactured by Ashland Chemical or equivalent are used in construction. A gel coat surface resin of equal chemical resistance, with the additive antimony trioxide for flame retardance and U.V. protection is included. The flame spread rating is Class II. Tested by ASTM E-84.
STRUCTURE: All wall and corner components are manufactured to strict industry standards for consistency and quality. Fiberglass reinforced construction is formed by combining resin with controlled amounts of fiberglass cloth, mat, chop and woven roving. All models include a chemically resistant surface barrier including surface glass or veil as may be necessary for the specific application.

MOUNTING REQUIREMENTS: POLY DIKE wall and corner components are to be fastened to concrete with industrial fasteners as manufactured by Hilti or equivalent. Fastener diameters must be a minimum of 1/8”, with a minimum spacing of 12” between fasteners. Adhesion to a concrete floor to be a minimum 3/16” thickness and 4” wide.
COMPONENT JOINING: Finished joining of components to be built up in successive layers, to be as strong as the pieces being joined and as crevice-free as is commercially feasible. Minimum joint lamination width is 2”. Successive layers must increase in size and overlap each other until a thickness equal to the component is achieved.
QUALITY ASSURANCE: POLY DIKE is manufactured and tested according to industry standards PS 15-69 and 41-GP-22 Canadian and SPI/MTI Quality Assurance Report for FRP Corrosion resistance Equipment.
