Railroad transloading facilities are required to have a Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plan such as transloading spill containment in place if they meet the following criteria:

  • It handles petroleum or non-petroleum oils.
  • It has aggregate above-ground storage capacity greater than 1,320 gallons or a completely buried storage capacity greater than 42,000 gallons.
  • There is a reasonable expectation of a discharge into or upon navigable waters of the United States or adjoining shorelines.

Transloading Spill Containment Design & Manufacturing

STAR TRACK systems are manufactured from your choice of high-strength, corrosion-resistant fiberglass, galvanized steel, or stainless steel. Each transloading spill containment system consists of three, low profile, 4″ high x 20′ long pans (total width of approximately 10 feet):

  • A center pan for railcar spill containment between the tracks
  • Two outrigger pans for railcar spill containment on both sides of the track

Each of the three pans may be used independently, or connected to the other pans via an optional drainage manifold, which fits snugly underneath and across all three pans. Drain ports, located in each pan, allow collection of fluids from all three pans. Each manifold may be connected to a collector drain pipe (provided by others), to a collection drain or sump pump.
